Weekly Report (01 Sept 2008 – 05 Sept 2008)

01 September
Reach Lemgo by train from Frankfurt Airport and was looking for direction to the Hochschule Ostwestfalen – Lippe. We reach to the Hochschule by a ride from a Bakery deliveryman. Upon reaching the University, look for Kerstin, the international student officer of the Hochschule but she wasn’t around. Instead another international officer Stefanie welcomed us and showed us around the school. After that she asked us to wait for a guy, Daniel which is also an international student studied there and he showed us our apartment and around Lemgo.

02 September
We went to look for Kerstin, the international student officer and she showed us around the school and also told us the instructions to do to register as a resident here in Lemgo and also register as a student here in the Hochschule. She also brought us to our project room where we will be working on for about 5 months and also give us our professor contacts and room. Furthermore she brief us about the rules and regulation of the lab room example: we have to work in pairs in the lab room.

03 September
We went to open Bank account with Dresner Bank and also went to the Lemgo office to register as a resident here in Lemgo. After registering, we went back to school to register as a student in the Hochschule and receive our Matriket number which is the student ID. We also receive forms for application of lab room keys from one of the project student which he asked us to go to room 327 to keep the lab keys. When we went to room 327, it was not opened so we have to try again on Friday as the next working day for that particular room is on Friday.

04 September
Meet Professor Dr Ing. Stefan Witte and he interview us about what current programs we are exposed to. Examples like Matlab, Visual Studio C++. A short brief about what kind of project we are doing and show us some of the current project developed by current student. Examples are popcorn machine operation process, Bluetooth signal observation.

05 September
Register to apply for internet access for the school wireless network S(kim). We are require to give out MAC address and student ID to be able to online. After that we went to take our lab room keys and also keys for the locker in the lab.
