Yesterday was suppose to type out but I forgotten as I been packing my luggage and watching Naruto. Quick update of what happen these past few days. We planned to go to Neuschwanstein Castle this last Friday as we had nothing to do in those days. Approach Daniel and ask him to help us find train that reach to there. He help us find those night train as we can rest in those train and don’t need to sleep in hotel when we get there. It took us about 6 hours to reach there. We overboard the train to one more stop but lucky the train conductor was very nice and lead us the way to take a bus as the train don’t go to Fussen(the place where the castle is). Reach there around 6am in the morning(German time) and then we ask two Korean the way to the castle. She communicate with us through hand and gesture but we understand it. Haha, so we board the bus which cost about 6 Euro dollars and to the bottom of the castle mountain.
There’s two castle there. One is of course the famous Neuschwanstein castle which I mention and the other is the Hohenschwangau castle which is quite near it. We went to the Neuschwanstein castle first as it was one of my dreams to visit that castle when I get to Germany. Bought the ticket at 8 Euro Dollars. (If I was 17 years old the visit would be free….) But still 8 Euro Dollars is consider the student price as they ask if we were student. There’s three ways up the mountain. First, is approx. 40 minutes walk by foot. Second is by horses carriage which cost 5 Euro and the last one was by bus which cost 1.80 Euro. We chooses the first one by foot and plan the horse carriage to the second castle. The walk there, noticed a lot of Asians but mostly Japanese, Korean and China. A lot of Americans too!!!
Walk for around 40 minutes and on the way there we took some pictures. Will post is below.The fog is still there so in the picture you might notice it will be very foggy as it is still early. First look at the castle and I was very very amazed by this beautiful castle, with the fog, it look more magnificent. It is totally a fairy tale castle. Bought some postcard and will post home when I know how :) We had to wait for 9.45am as the trip has to be in group and the tour number is 421!!! So sat there eat a bit and took some pictures until our time reach.
The tour guide speaks English in an very Bristish Accent. But she was from Germany as someone ask her. (German English speaking people are quite rare to be found here) Sad thing was, we cannot take any pictures of inside of the castle as they need to protect the paintings there. (Well I did bought some postcard of the interior design of the castle) The castle wasn’t complete yet as the king die mysterically before the castle completed. His body was found in the lake nearby and he couldn’t been drown as he was a great swimmer. Anyway first stop is the king’s Throne Hall as the walls of the Throne Hall glorify canonized kings and their deeds. It was too bad that there’s no throne there as King Ludwig II stayed there for around 5 months. There’s lots of beautiful painting on the wall like St. George killing the dragon and the picture includes one castle which planned to build but it was nice to stay there. The next is the king’s bedroom and then study room which contains lot and lots of swam pictures(more than 1000-As the swan was the king’s favourite animal). After these two, we visited the singer’s hall on the fourth floor of the castle. The painting there all describe something and it’s beautiful. The last stop was the Palace kitchen. Nothing much to say about the kitchen, it looks like the modern kitchen with old stove and stuff and lastly we walked down back to the ticket station. I will type the brochure below later on.
Next stop is the Hohenschwangau castle which is approx 20 minutes walk from the ticket station, other than that, there’s horse carriage too. We choose the horse carriage and it cost 3.50 Euro. The horse ride was alright and we get to see the beautiful surroundings and the lake nearby. The water is crystal clear, clean and we can even see the depth. Reach the castle and we cound only enter it at 12.15pm. The tour number is 151, so we wait as when we reach there, the tour number is 149. This castle I should say not as pretty as the Neuschwanstein castle but it’s very grand. Took some pictures of the castle and we can also view the Neuschwanstein castle from this castle. Take a look at the interior design of the castle. It’s nice but cannot be comparable to the one in Neuschwanstein. Still it look nice to live in and there’s lift to the second floor but it’s not in used as it was built by King Ludwig II’s father around the age of 80’s as he hates climbing the stairs. Each paintings there describe a story of what happen in the history. I wasn’t listening much to the tour guide but I am “scanning” the things and paintings there in the castle. The king’s bedroom is the best!!! The top ceilings are filled with crystal that glows and the paintings is about nature. The crystal is to make it appear as the star on the sky. There’s also secret chamber that the king enter to take a bath/shower. Outside of the bedroom is the king’s music room. There’s an old telescope there for King Ludwig II to observe his Neuschwanstein castle construction process.
After the tour, we went down to the lake to see how clear the water is. The water is very clear and we could see some fishes and there’s one swan family and a few ducks followed. We fed them bread which we bought and plan it for breakfast. After enjoying the beautiful scenery for a few moment we get back to Fussen by bus and enjoy some Asian cuisine. It was opened by Vietnam people. The food of course seems very different from Singapore although it’s called Asian food. Walk around and had ice cream in the few shops there. After that we are prepare to return back to Lemgo.
During the trip returning to Lemgo, we weren’t following the trip details and we used our own experience to get to Lemgo as the trip back to Lemgo starts at 9pm while we are ready to get back around 6pm. So we ask around and board the train here and there with the help of the Eurail pass. Get to Augburg, Hannover. We walk around the station and the shops are mostly closed as it’s already night time. Reach Lemgo around 12pm on the 30th August. Went back home as there isn’t any shop that opens. So slack at our current place packing and also watching show, we will be moving out today to our new place. So excited as the living condition is of course much more cleaner than now. It’s 9.47am here and 3.48pm (Singapore time), guess I will stop here.
